Coastal Romance: A Moody & Beautiful Armada Hotel Wedding
There is something undeniably magical about a wedding on the edge of the Atlantic, regardless of what the Irish sky decides to do. Yasmin and Sean’s Armada Hotel wedding was a perfect example of why Spanish Point remains one of the most sought-after backdrops in County Clare. Even with the “wild” weather making an appearance, the atmosphere was filled with warmth, elegance, and breathtaking coastal views.
The day began at the historic Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Quilty. This charming church sits just a stone’s throw from the ocean, providing a serene and intimate setting for Yasmin and Sean to exchange their vows. As a photographer, I love the natural light in this space—it perfectly set the tone for the celebrations to follow.
As we made our way toward the reception, we stopped for the bride and groom portraits. While the weather was a bit temperamental, we didn’t let that stop us. In fact, “moody” weather often creates the most cinematic and romantic wedding photos!
Spanish Point is easily one of my favorite locations for portraits in Ireland. It offers a diverse range of textures that I look for in every shoot:
-
The Sea Grass: Adding a soft, organic movement to the frame.
-
The Golden Sand: Providing a clean, natural “studio” floor.
-
The Atlantic Ocean: A powerful, timeless backdrop.
Having all these elements—sand, sea grass, and the sea—in one single location allows us to get a huge variety of shots without keeping the couple away from their guests for too long.
The evening concluded with a stunning reception at the Armada Hotel. Known for its world-class views of the waves crashing against the rocks, the Armada provides an incredible experience for guests. Whether you are watching the sunset from the terrace or enjoying the cozy interiors during a storm, it is a venue that never fails to impress.
Yasmin and Sean’s day was a reminder that you don’t need a cloudless sky to have a perfect wedding; you just need a great location, a joyful couple, and a bit of Vitamin Sea.
